The Pakistani Environment Minister calls on the President

The Pakistani Minister of Environment, Mr. Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat, called on the President this morning.

At the meeting, the President spoke on the vulnerability of the environment of the Maldives and the importance attached to environmental issues. He also emphasised on the actions being undertaken with regard to the environmental challenges faced in the country.

The Pakistani Environment Minister welcomed the President’s efforts in drawing attention on an international scale to the dangers posed to the Maldives by global warming and sea level rise, and appealed to the President to continue these efforts. He also spoke on the environmental challenges faced by Pakistan and other SAARC countries. The President and the Pakistani Environment Minister also discussed the ways to further strengthen the relations between the Maldives and Pakistan in environment-related issues.
