Maldives air deals for newly-weds

Bangkok Airways expects to capture a new target group of honeymooners by joining with NEC Exhibition Organiser (Neo) to promote ticket sales of Bangkok-Maldives flights at a wedding fair to be held mid-year.

Plernpis Kosolyutasarn, assistant sales director of the airline, yesterday said she believed Wedding Fair 2007, to be organised by Neo from May 31 to June 3, would be an opportunity for the airline to sell Bangkok-Maldives air tickets to honeymooners.

Bangkok Airways is the sole airline providing direct two-hour flights from Bangkok to the Maldives.

"The Bangkok-Maldives route has attracted strong interest from customers," said Plernpis, adding that the carrier had tried to find an opportunity to encourage Thai tourists to travel to the Maldives.

She said she also hoped the honeymooners attending the fair would be interested in travelling to the Maldives, which she described as the world's most beautiful tourism spot.

Apart from receiving discounts on air tickets for Bangkok-Maldives flights, Plernpis said honeymooners visiting the fair would have a chance to win one of two prizes.

Each of these is a round trip worth Bt100,000 for two to fly with the airline from Bangkok to the Maldives.

This year's Wedding Fair will be the 14th fair held under the one-stop-service concept. Neo expects 20,000 visitors to the event.

A promotion at the fair is the one-year Wedding Plus card for honeymooners, to be used for discounts on various services and wedding-related products.

A wedding package of Bt99,999 is also available.
