Waste dumping in sewerage system less

LAHORE: People are dumping less waste into the city’s sewerage system in response to an awareness campaign launched by WASA.

A project management unit (PMU) spokesman informed the media on Thursday that citizens had dumped 20 percent less waste into the city’s sewerage system in February compared to last month. This included old clothes, shopping bags, stones, utensils and bags. He expressed the department’s hope that this level of cooperation would continue in the future. “The PMU can restore the city’s sewerage system to its design capacity if less solid waste is dumped into it.” staff report
