TAHITI (28 Feb 2007) -- First it was the Fiji Aggressor. Then it was the Tahiti Aggressor. And soon it will be the Fiji Aggressor again.
The Aggressor Fleet management has announced the Tahiti Aggressor scuba diving liveaboard will terminate all tour diving operations on March 10, 2007 after five years in French Polynesia.
Explaining its decision to pull the plug on liveaboard tours in Tahiti, Aggressor Fleet management cited the extremely high cost of operating a top-class liveaboard in French Polynesia, which Cyber Diver Scuba Diving Magazine describes as "...unarguably the most overpriced travel destination on the face of the planet." The 106-ft catamaran liveaboard will return to Fiji, haul out for annual maintenance and then resume liveaboard dive trips on May 12, 2007 as the Fiji Aggressor.
The renowned 10-passenger Fiji Aggressor II, formerly the Sere Ne Wai, will continue liveaboard operations in Fiji, although the luxury mega-yacht style liveaboard is scheduled for a major overhaul in 2007.
The Aggressor Fleet operates 13 liveaboards in 12 destinations around the world.
The newest vessel, the much anticipated Maldives Aggressor, is under construction in Turkey and scheduled to begin exploring the legendary atolls of the Maldives in January 2008.
