THE Bahrain International Tourism Expo (BITE 2007) opened at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre.
Organised by Magnum Events and Exhibitions Management the three-day event will be opened by the Crown Prince, BDF Commander-in-Chief and Economic Development Board Chairman Shaikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa at 10am.
Dignitaries, VVIPs, government officials, organisers, sponsors, exhibitors and investors will be present at the opening ceremony.
"A unique and pioneering annual Business to Consumer event, the show is aimed at bringing the providers of holiday related services and clients exploring value for money offers under one roof," said Magnum Holdings Group chairman Jamil Wafa.
"It offers an ideal platform for exhibitors across the entire spectrum of the travel industry related services towards displaying and promoting their products and services."
He said this year, the new participants as exhibitors or hosted buyers are from Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Canada, Greece, India Tourism (with special emphasis on Jammu and Kashmir), Ireland, Italy, Jordan, Kuwait, Luxembourg, Monaco, Maldives, Oman, Poland, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, Thailand, The Netherlands, Tunisia and the US.
This is in addition to Australia, Bahrain, Brunei, China, Cyprus, Egypt, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Lebanon, Malaysia, Qatar, Seychelles, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Syria, Turkey, UAE and the UK, who participated at previous events.
Mr Wafa said that based on last year's success and for the second year, BITE will once again host a programme for 90 key International MICE buyers and leading international travel publications.
Other sponsors of the event are the Information Ministry's Tourism Affairs, Gulf Air, Bahrain Exhibition and Convention Authority, the Board of the Five Star Hotels Owners, Ahli United Bank, Batelco, Sabre Travel Network.
The event is supported by Qatar Airways, Elite Luxury Apartments and Hotel Group, Bahrain Limo, Al Hilal Group and the Atlas Tourism and Culture TV channel.
BITE 2007 will be open for consumers from 4 pm to 9 pm today and from 10am to 12.30pm and 4pm to 9pm tomorrow and Thursday.
Admission is free and the event features attractive daily Raffle draws.
