Viceroy Continues Exotic Expansion with Maldives Location

Coming December, we'll have another overwater bungalow accommodation to drool over (but sadly, never get the chance to visit.) Viceroy Hotels just announced this morning their plans for the Viceroy Maldives which is currently under construction on the island of Vagaru in the Shaviyani Atoll.

When it opens it will be the first Viceroy outside of the Americas although not the first beach resort for Viceroy (there's Viceroy Anguilla and Zihuatanejo.) Here's what to expect from this far-flung resort:

The Viceroy Maldives resort will feature 61 luxury villas, situated both over the crystalline water as well as on the beaches that ring the 17-acre Vagaru Island. The villas – amongst the largest in the Maldives –will boast from 1,345 to 3,300-square feet of indoor space, with generous outdoor private areas, all including plunge pools.

The resort will also offer five unique food and beverage outlets, a spacious over-water spa and fitness center, a signature cantilevered pool and pool deck and a full-service dive and watersports activities center, allowing Viceroy guests to take advantage of the world-class diving, fishing and snorkeling available in the resort’s house reef and beyond.

There's no word on pricing but we're sure that will get sorted out closer to December. To keep your own tabs on the resort, hit up their website.

Meanwhile, we found some renderings and photos here that were posted on the internet in December and from which we mashed up in the photo above. We think it's probably the Viceroy, as we're not sure this island could hold two resorts. Or could it?
